What it is

You are a small or medium business securing your own organization. Reading SMB1001, self-assessing against it and certifying to it costs you nothing. Free for every SMB on the planet, from 1 January 2027. The Standard Free Use Licence covers everyone, including Technical Support Specialists serving up to three client organizations.

2027 Commercial Use Licence

What it is

You need the commercial rights and nothing else, or you build platforms, tools, or training on SMB1001. The standalone Commercial Use Licence, from US$500 per year, available from 1 September 2026. Covers Technical Support Specialists with more than three client organizations, or embedding SMB1001 in a product or platform. Unlimited clients.

What it is

You deliver SMB1001 to clients and want the credential, the AI Support Agent, the directory listing, and the practitioner pathway for your people. The Authorized Partner Programme, from US$750 per year or US$75 per month. This is where most Technical Support Specialists land.

Dates that matter.

August 2026

The membership platform launches: directory, digitally verifiable badges, and the full programme experience.

1 September 2026

SMB1001:2027 early-access release. The DSI AI Support Agent goes live, supporting the 2026 and 2027 releases. CUL IDs, the spreadsheet format, and registrar support are delivered from this date.

31 December 2026

The Founding Mission Supporter window closes at 11:59pm AEDT. No extensions.

1 January 2027

The Commercial Use Licence requirement takes effect for Technical Support Specialists managing four or more SMB1001 client engagements, verified through DSC platforms.

Common questions.

All three. The requirement is a current Commercial Use Licence, and every pathway includes one. Choose by what else you want alongside it.

The Champion position is open.

SMB1001 Unlocked - Free for All will carry the name of one organization: the Founding Legacy Champion that makes the standard free for the world. The position is exclusive, it is open, and it will only ever be held by one organization at a time. If yours has the scale and the conviction, the prospectus explains the rest.

Important: The Founding Legacy Champion is a single, exclusive, multi-year naming-rights partnership, not a sponsorship. It represents a capital commitment on the scale of a major corporate naming-rights or flagship CSR partnership, and is typically pursued by multinational corporations, major financial institutions, telecommunications providers, national government agencies, or large philanthropic foundations.
